Biography

Tamy Christ-Avitabile is a graduate of the University of North Texas. At UNT she studied with the prestigious concert pianist Tong-il Han, who succeeded Itzhak Perlman as the winner of the Leventritt Competition in 1965. She devoted her high school years to studying with Alfred Mouledous, pianist with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra for 37 years and member of SMU faculty since 1960. She has been the President of the Richardson Music Teachers Association and the Composition Coordinator for the State of Texas.

Every student is on their own course of learning predicted by love of music, sheer drive, listening, genes, and always training. Talent is the ability to improve, not the sheer God-given free attributes mistakenly believed to be talent. Progress is addictive to student and teacher. I have devoted my life to making music easier by awakening the senses in the language of music with self-expression and teaching the mathematical theory required to program thousands of notes. The younger your child reaches me, the better chance we have to explore their talent. Adult students add balance to my career and often become my most passionate students. Music defines me in every way.
